Keyamo Calls For Removal of Preliminary Appeal Provision From the Constitrition

Renowned Legal practitioner, Festus Keyamo on Wednesday offered some suggests that will lead to the speedy delivery of Justice in Nigeria.

Speaking as a Guest on Channels Television's breakfast programme, Sunrise Daily, Mr Keyamo recommended that the provision in the Economic and Financial Crimes commission's (EFCC) act that says "Interlocutory applications and appeals shall not operate as a stay of proceedings," should be added somewhere in the Nigerian constitution

He said despite the provision, almost all the cases being prosecuted by the EFCC are stayed at the lower courts because the defence lawyers will argue that "the constitution  guarantee the right of appeal and part of the right to appeal is the right to have your appeal heard first before your case is determine at the lower court. In many cases, they argue that the constitution override the EFCC act"

Mr Keyamo said solution to this problem is to amend the constitution "and put it as a provision in the constitution 'that there shall be no stay of proceedings in criminal trials; that criminal trials are deemed adjoined from day to day".

He said if these provisions are in the constitution, "within all these cases will be disposed of"

Ceasefire: We'll Take Boko Haram Seriously After A Month - FG

Days after the Boko Haram terrorist group announced its resolve to Dialogue and hold a ceasefire, the Federal Government has reacted by laying down a condition to the sect: Boko Haram Must Stop its Violence in the North for a period of One Month.

The Chief of Defence  Staff, Admiral Ola Sa'ad Ibrahim stated this while speaking to journalists at the opening of the 2013 seminar on National Security with the theme "Contemporary National Security Challenges: Policy Option", organised by the Alumni Association of the National Defence college, Abuja.

He said that while the Security Chiefs were excited by the prospect of peace, they had to be Cautious about the olive branch offered by the sect. As such, the Government could only take the sect seriously, if no public place, place of worship or security formation is not attacked in the Next 30 days.

He also expressed his hope that the development would result in improved security

He said, "You see, we must must treat that with a lot of Caution. You understand, there are certain objective tests that will make sense. Let's assume we can have a long period of about one month where no bomb explodes, where nobody is shot, where nobody is beheaded, where no church is bombed, where no mosque is threatened.

"If they can guarantee just one month, then we can begin to talk. You see we must take this with a lot of Caution. That is what I am telling you".

"We hope whatever that must have brought about this will further enhance our security  and it's like recognition of the very futile approach to solving whatever they consider to be the problems. So we are a bit excited by it but we are taking everything with a lot of caution".

N10.6trn Controversy: Ezekwesili Dares Maku to Public Debate.

The Federal Government, yesterday, through the Minister of Information, Mr. Labaran Maku, reacted to comments made by the former Minister of  Education, Dr. Obiageli Ezekwesili, alleging that the Governments of Presidents of Umaru Musa Yar'Adua and Goodluck Jonathan, squandered $67 billion in foreign reserve, describing the allegation as "outlandish and clearly fictitious"

Maku further accused the former World Bank Vice-President(Africa) of betraying a surprisingly limited understanding of government finances in her comments at the convocation lecture of the University of Nigeria,  Nsukka.

He noted: "These statements are even more curious in the light of the fact that she has held senior positions in government, and more recently, a position as a Vice President of World Bank. However, rather than speculate about her motives, we would focus on the facts"

However, responding to Maku's attack. Dr. Obiageli Ezekwesili challenged officials of the Federal Government to a Public Debate

On allegations that she mismanaged funds meant for the Education Sector during her 10 months as Education Minister, Mrs Ezekwesili said: "I challenge them to a public debate of  facts regarding 2007 Excess Crude Account (ECA) and foreign reserve and last five and half years of oil revenue".

Still expressing her views on Twitter on Sunday in messages with hashtag, "Nothing but Accountability", Ezekwesili said: "In 2007, the incoming Administration was handed $45 Billion in Foreign Reserve plus $22 Billion. Let Mr. Maku go further. As citizen all i want to know is the Mathematics of ECA and the Foreign Reserve. I demanded accountability and that's all a citizen asks of government. I will not stop asking for accountability... Hmmm, all past Public Office holders are now activist. I wonder if President GEJ will be an activist too after his tenure... We they laugh too.

Egyptian Referee, Grisha Ghead to be Expelled from Afcon

Egyptian Referee, Grisha Ghead, who officiated the controversial second group c match between Nigeria and the Defending Champion Zambia, on Friday may be dismissed from the on going Africa Nation's Cup by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) as a result of poor officiating.

Ghead gave Zambia a late controversial penalty which ensured that the match ended 1-1. The Nigeria Football Federation  (NFF) lodged a complaint with caf after the match and the caf President, Mr. Issa Hayatou assured Nigeria's sport minister Mr. Bolaji Abdullahi that Prompt action has been taken against the referee and that the official will be sent home. Caf is yet to react officially but one thing is for sure, what have been done have been done and we ask, why poor officiating in our two matches so far? A Day With The Nigerian Police.

Police they say, is your friend. They prevent crime and keep public order. They patrol in Van ensuring Security but sometimes, i wonder if the commoner feels same because no ordinary person would wish to be stopped on the roadside and be interrogated all in the name of ensuring public order by the Police.

Let me tell you a STORY from a GOOD HEART!... for clarity!.

One day, Adrian and some of his friends were returning from a short journey, in one of his friend's car. Everything was tranquil as the car travels in an average speed... After some distance in the town, a Police van blocked their car... Reason, because they were all Boys in the car. At this Juncture, there is one language synonymous with the Nigerian Police,... "Don't worry, just get to the station first and explain. Oga will let you go".

 Adrian and his friends eventually get to the station. They were searched, interrogated and found clean. Let me abridge the paragraph to make the story short. Nigerian Police actually know who you are when they lock eyes with you simultaneously as you answers the first question asked BUT one rule applies when you are finally in their court, that is, their effort is Never wasted for taking you down to the station. It's either you cooperate or stay at the back of counter... So, you can conclude what happened to Adrian and his friends before they were allowed to continue their Journey.



Hmm... Yet, Nigerians say God Bless Nigeria and God Bless The Nigerian Police Force.

FINDING FULFILLMENT.

Fulfillment is achieving something desired or promised... We thus ask, who is a fulfilled man? Is it wealth or success that makes one fulfilled?... To me, a fulfilled man is one that have a story to tell at a later time in life after his dreams have been meant... i mean a "Touching story".

We see Sons and Daughters of wealthy Men and Women Jumping into wealth after schooling Abroad or undertaking some professional training and we ask, do they really have a story to tell?... They always remain Proud and Grateful to their parents for providing everything they needed on a Platter of Gold. Therefore, their story is always attributed to their Parents for placing the Ladder there for them... Theirs is just to climb. Thus we call them successful People.

Do you actually know who have a touching story to tell?... YOU!. Yes! you that have a lot of good pictures running in your head right  now and have no wealthy Parents to put a ladder there for you BUT one principle remains in actualization of this Dream... "The Journey". You have to unravel these "good pictures in your head" in stages as it comes and i must say this... It is very tough to climb these stages as you have no person to assist you. At a point, you feel like giving up, at another, you just ask God, why me?, at another again, you just want to let go for good but you know what?... HOLD ON!. Don't ever let go because this makes your story an Inspiring one... one that can change next generation and  make them say NO!... and clutch to theirs when they read about your determination to succeed in the nearby future.

Yes! i know you must be going through some difficulty as you try to actualize that dream, that picture in your head today but one thing is very important... Hold on Brother!, hold on sister!... Don't ever let go!. This is what make you fulfilled when you tell your story in future with smiles... and watches as people get inspired by your "Touching, True life story Book. This can stir them to hold on to theirs, thus saving ideas and making our world a Better Place. YES!... This makes you a FULFILLED MAN!

HYPERTENSION, Now Killing Young Nigerians - Experts say

Medical personnel have raised the alarm that young people in their 30s now die daily of hypertension, a disease often described as a silent killer

Before now, hypertension usually signposted by High Blood Pressure, was not too common among the young. But Physicians in the nation's hospitals said that young young Nigerians in their 30s and 40s are now becoming the victims of the deadly disease. This, they said, was due to Ignorance and poor management of the ailment.

To reduce deaths occasioned by hypertension, experts have called for increased awareness on the prevention and early detection of the disease. Experts claim about 250,000 lives would be saved yearly with early detection of hypertension in Nigeria.

Cardiologist, neurologists and some chief medical directors of hospitals who spoke with our correspondent said 70 percent of the underlying causes of terminal diseases such as heart failure, cardiac arrest, kidney and liver failure originated from patients who did not know that they had high blood pressure.

They warned that unlike before when it was just old people who were dying of high blood pressure, young Nigerians in 30s now die of hypertension.

According to a consultant neurosurgeon with Cedacrest Hospitals, Abuja, Dr Abiodun Ogungbo, doctors have calculated that 25 percent of adults in Nigeria have hypertension.

Ogungbo noted that the reality was that only one percent of the 25 knew they had high blood pressure, hence the need for aggressive awareness on early detection of the disease in the country

He stated that a patient is said to be hypertensive when the blood pressure is 140|90 mmHg or above, most of the time.

Ogungbo said "one in every four adults in Nigeria has hypertension and this is a very high percentage. More young persons are also dying of complications of hypertension. Sadly many people who have it don't know. Millions of people are literally walking time bomb because of their high blood pressure because when it remains untreated, it cause heart attack, stroke or kidney disease.

"Unfortunately, I and other specialists like cardiac physicians and nephrologists see people with organ failure caused by poorly controlled hypertension"

Ogungbo said the disease was often referred to as silent killer because it had no symptoms  He added that it had been proven that high blood pressure was a major cause of sudden deaths.

He said, "The problem with high blood pressure is that it sneaks up on you. Doctors in Ibadan studied many autopsies and discovered that the patients died from complications of hypertension. Two autopsies studied have also shown that hypertension is the commonest underlying cause of sudden natural deaths. It has no signs, by the time it gives you symptoms such as Headaches, anxiety, visual problems and chest pains, it had already done damage to the important parts of the body"

Ogungbo said there was need to educate physicians and health care providers and Nigerians on the causes of high blood pressure to erase many misconceptions.

He said hypertension is not caused by stress, lack of sleep or depression. It is not also caused by the old woman in the village or by an evil arrow sent by colleague at work or next door neighbour. it is not that problem at home front. In about 90 percent of all cases, the causes of hypertension still remains unknown. 

The major way to check hypertension still remains early detection of the disease. So  regular check up is very important and drive away ignorance. 

THE GIRL CHILD: Growing up.

While growing up, the Girl Child encounters lots of friends or Peer groups with different lifestyles. She gets confused and wants to know why her friends are living the way they do and if it's right to do what they are doing. Precious Ejiofor 17, was the second daughter to Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Ejiofor. She was a combination of Innocence and Beauty. At class SS1 in higher school, she fell to a Bad Clique of friends as her close pals  They always gist her of their rough and Naive lifestyles and she too always wonders at it... this became an Un-answered questions in her heart and wanted to know if they are living right. There were many questions involving sex in her questions to be asked and wanted just one thing from her Mother; for her to have that flowing communication with her so that she can pour everthing now residing in her heart. Instead, her mother just answered her with short answers and proceeds with her busy life; don't have much time for her. She (Precious) was unsatisfied and became left alone in her thought and world. Her Dad was not always around neither

One day, one of her girl friend introduced her to a chatting site and she gradually became addicted to it and it was fun and now her companion. She made some Boys as friends and One became so Funny to her. She began to like the boy. One day, she pays the boy a visit... She never knew he had real motive... He spiked her drink... That was how Young and Beautiful Precious lost her Virginity. She cried and cried and the Boy apologized over and over again... The deed had already been done... Her Mother was never there to provide answers to some things she finds difficult to understand. She got misled to a social site and the answer to her unsolved Puzzle was loosing her Virginity.

Mothers, no matter the tight schedule, always find time to listen to your Daughter when ever she tries to communicate something to you. You might just be saving her from a Big Mistake she's about to make. A Better World is Possible!.

Many People around the World label the English Premier league as the Most Exciting League in the World maybe as a result of the Suspense it creates when Bigger Clubs play the Smaller onces. In this case, anything can happen at the end of the match. It has been the culture of the Premier League for years now. For example, Nobody would believe Norwich FC would Stun Manchester United. Swansea FC have turned to Arsenal's Nightmare for this season. This can hardly Happen in the Spanish league (La Liga). So many People Watch and Enjoy all the English Premiership games with Utmost interest and suspense.

But to FIFA, this is not right... Chelsea won the UEFA Champion's League, Yes many complained about their style of play. Robie Van Persie was on song for Arsenal FC, moved on to Manchester United and continues the same feet, scoring goals week in week out for his club. This, to most superstars is hard to adapt. Juventus was outstanding and played as a very good team in the Italia League (Seria A) and won their League. Buffon was named the Goalkeeper of the Decade and He (Buffon) and Peter Cech were Outstanding in their respective clubsides BUT were not trading their play in the STAR STUDDED CLUBSIDES.

Then we ask What is the Criteria for FIFA, awarding a player at the end of a footballing year?  Is it the Player's outstanding performance in a Team or being among a star studded club?. That is what happened at the Ballon d'Or 2012 FIFA|FIFPro World XI Team of the Year. One thing stands out, Fernando Alonso woundn't have made the List if He still plays for Liverpool and Robie Van Persie, Buffon or Peter Cech would have made the List if they were playing for Barcelona or Real Madrid.

It was too late when she was rushed to the Hospital... Oh rapist, why take the life and beautiful dreams of young Blessing away?...Just five or ten minutes of unforgivable, enjoyment you call it and we ask again, is it really worth it, taking the spirit and pride of those young Girls away whose Dreams could have contributed to the growth and development of the world?...
